Campsite 31 kilometres from the village
The 3-star Camping Les Truffières, situated in Saint-Marcel-d’Ardèche, is 31 km from the village of Lagorce. This wooded site allows you to stay close to the Ardèche Gorges and the Ibie Valley, offering direct road access to the main natural sites and villages of southern Ardèche.
Location and access: How do you get to Lagorce from the campsite?
Our estate is the starting point for a magnificent half-hour drive to Lagorce. Taking the Gorges de l’Ardèche tourist route (D290) via Bidon and Saint-Remèze, you leave the Rhône plain behind and climb up onto the garrigue plateaus. The route leads straight to this fortified village, the true gateway to the lower Ibie Valley. This location means you can avoid staying in overcrowded areas whilst still enjoying direct access to this crystal-clear river, which resembles a lagoon.
Why choose the tranquillity of Saint-Marcel-d’Ardèche as a base for exploring the Lower Ardèche?
Choosing a property like ours, rather than accommodation in the heart of the village, guarantees a peaceful holiday, away from the summer tourist crowds, whilst making the most of your budget. Just 30 minutes from the main fortified sites, our 10-hectare estate offers you living spaces twice as large, a shaded swimming pool and more competitive rates than the ultra-central accommodation options in the Gorges.

Expert advice from Valérie and Stéphane:
“For a successful day trip to Lagorce from the campsite, we advise our guests to set off early in the morning. This is the best time to stroll through the cool, cobbled streets and visit Ma Magnanerie without the crowds. In the afternoon, give the crowded beaches at Pont d’Arc a miss: settle down in the shade of the limestone cliffs in the Ibie Valley or set off in search of the geological curiosity known as the Trou de la Lune!"
Tourism and culture: What to do in the Lower Ardèche?
Staying with us is the perfect way to organise a day of exploration at the heart of Lagorce’s heritage. This artists’ village is best explored on foot, as you wander through its cobbled alleyways, past its vaulted porticoes and up to its belfry topped with a campanile. Don’t miss the guided tour of Ma Magnanerie, the unmissable historic site dedicated to the art of sericulture, where you can learn about silkworm rearing and the history of the ‘golden trees’ (mulberry trees).
As for nature, the hiking trails will take you to the natural arch known as the Trou de la Lune or to the spectacular Sompe waterfall (a magical intermittent stream after rain). On your way back, stop for a refreshing break in the Ibie Valley or at a local winery to discover the unique wine-growing terroir of the Côtes du Vivarais.
