The Enchanting History of Camping Les Truffières
Nestled in the heart of the Ardèche, Camping Les Truffières is much more than a holiday resort; it's the fruit of an epic family adventure begun in 1962 by the visionary patriarch, Jean-François. At the time, these lands were home to a family farm, testifying to the family's deep attachment to this bountiful natural environment.
Jean-François, passionate about selling mushrooms and local produce at Provencal markets, felt the need to create a haven for travelers, whose demand for camping sites was growing. With the blessing of his farmer parents, he came up with the idea of a farm campsite, modestly sized at just ten places - a daring idea at the time.
From a journey of land to a journey of stone, Jean-François, with the help of his children, built the various stages that sketched the outline of the campsite as we know it today. From an initial 10 places to 30, then 100, each expansion was guided by a love of nature and a desire to share this corner of paradise with travellers, while respecting and seeking space.
The adventure continued until 2007, when Jean-François and his wife passed the torch to their daughter Valérie and son-in-law Stéphane. With a modern vision, they elevated the Saint Marcel d'Ardèche campsite to 3-star status, adding a pub, a gourmet restaurant and breathing new life into the estate.
Valérie and Stéphane breathed new energy into Les Truffières, giving it a unique identity of its own. The retirement of the grandparents marked a transition, but the campsite continued to evolve, becoming a place of relaxation prized by travelers in search of authenticity.
