Les Truffières campsite, located only 57 km from Joyeuse, invites you to discover the charms of the Rhone Valley and the southern Ardèche. This small medieval village, renowned for its historical and cultural heritage, is home to many historical monuments such as the Porte Sainte-Anne, the stone castle, the Place de la Peyre and the Tour de la Recluse.
Vacationers can enjoy a rich stay in Joyeuse, such as nature trails, horseback riding and the local produce market. In autumn, the gourmet and artisanal fair highlights local gastronomy and the talents of local artisans.
The city of Joyeuse has an interesting legend according to which it was founded by Charlemagne and takes its name from his sword, the Joyeuse, mentioned in the Song of Roland. The legend says that Charlemagne lost his sword during a battle against the Saracens and that, thanks to a soldier who found it, he gave the name of the sword to the city.
