La Grotte de Saint Marcel
This story begins 100 million years ago, from the formation of limestone rock, until the discovery of Aven d'Orgnac in 1935, which today allows us to admire gigantic underground rooms. It is also a human story, from the edge of the flint that was carved 350,000 years ago, and the transmission that continues in the City of Prehistory. Come learn a little, dream a lot, change the era above all, near the campsite in Ardèche Les Truffières open year round!
The cave of La Madeleine,
property of the municipality of Saint-Remèze,
It is one of the main tourist caves in south-eastern France. It is located in the middle of the cliff on the left bank and in the heart of the Gorges de l'Ardèche
At the heart of a natural site classified 3 stars in the Michelin guide and whose beauty has conquered the most fervent followers of wild life, the cave of the Madeleine is one of the most beautiful in France, with imposing volumes, of concretions with astonishing shapes and an unusual range of colors.
One hour guided tour with commentary. Over 1 km (round trip), you will discover one of the most beautiful developed caves in France.
Discover Aven Marzal, a cavity explored in 1892 by E. A. Martel, the first world-renowned French caver. The latter will say of the Aven that it is "grafted on a vast cave, one of the most admirable that we know from the point of view of concretions".
The Chauvet 2 Cave or the Pont d’Arc Cave
DECEMBER 18, 1994…
It's a Sunday. Equipped with lamps, Jean-Marie Chauvet, Éliette Brunel and Christian Hillaire, decide to enter the narrow tunnel discovered a few months earlier. The trio crawls meter after meter. Progress is difficult. The three cavers get stuck several times before reaching the ceiling of a large gallery. This winter expedition will change the course of their lives.
