"The soul of the Ardèche has an address"
44km from the campsite,
If you are looking for a campsite in Vogüé or its surroundings to come on holiday in the Southern Ardèche, find us at the 3-star Les Truffières campsite! We offer high standard accommodation in an exceptional natural environment.
The village, leaning against the limestone cliffs on the left bank of the Ardèche, is dominated by the imposing mass of its castle, cradle of the powerful Vogüé family, lords of Rochecolombe.
The castle was built in the 17th and 18th centuries and was the initial cell of the village. At the end of the 15th century, it had a quadrangular enclosure flanked by four round towers. But in the 17th century, Melchior I de Vogüé made major changes to meet the tastes of the time. From 1606 to 1619, he had the large, unmoulded mullioned windows that can be found in Alba and Aubenas opened, and the bull's-eyes on the various façades. We also owe him the Louis XIII style door with bosses under the pediment of the inner courtyard, and the quadrangular staircase to which it gives access. As it appears today, this austere and seductive dwelling is a fine example of late Renaissance architecture.
